Navigating the Journey at The University of Hong Kong

The “HKU Interactive Map” is a Final Year Project (FYP) under COMP 4801 at The University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Science. This innovative navigation tool is designed specifically for new students, offering an intuitive and engaging way to explore the main campus. By leveraging web-based mapping libraries and real-time updates, it transforms traditional campus maps into a dynamic, user-friendly interface to enhance orientation and location discovery.
This feature consolidates data on buildings, lecture rooms, and canteens, accessible via web and mobile interfaces with backend API support, ensuring freshmen can locate resources efficiently.
Offers real-time route guidance for indoor and outdoor paths, including pictorial landmarks, adapting to conditions like elevator outages for seamless navigation.
Design an intuitive user interface that includes a search function, filtering options, and 2D visualization features, such as floor plans showing different levels within buildings. Users will be able to select specific facilities, such as restrooms, and benefit from an additional building abbreviation translation feature.
